Letters, photographs, historical writings, recipes, pamphlets, clippings and other papers of the Underhill, Weekes (or Weeks), Slade and related families. Letters of Edith Bradford Weekes Slade relate to the United War Work Campeign, 1918, and other activities. Photographs and portraits include silhouette portraits of Eliza Weeks Underhill and Benjamin T. Underhill; photos of family portraits painted by William Sidney Mount; tintypes and photoprints of Mary Gage and Townsend Underhill, Maria Weeks Underhill, Arthur D. Weekes, Sr., Lillie U. Weekes, and others; and photo albums of family, scenes around Oyster Bay and the Vanderbilt Cup Races. Also included are a census of the Capitol Heights area of Oyster Bay, and a handmade scrapbook of alphabet pictures and other illustrations made by Lillie Underhill Weekes for her children.

Members of the Truman and Underhill families were Quakers with close ties to Swarthmore College and were involved in social concerns. Best known is George Truman (1798-1877), Quaker merchant, dentist, and doctor and a recognized minister. His grandson, Benjamin Mott Underhill (1863-1930) and wife Georgia Cook Myers Underhill (1877-1926) attended Swarthmore College.
